Content Safety & Appeals

The Community Guidelines apply across posts, comments, profiles, Circles, and Topics. When something appears unsafe or a moderation decision seems incorrect, FOCUS provides separate paths for those two concerns.

A report identifies content or an account that may violate the guidelines. An appeal asks for another review of an action already applied to you. In either case, focus on the relevant item; you never need to repost harmful or private material to explain what happened.

Report content or an account

  1. Open the report action on the content or account when it is available.
  2. Choose the reason that best matches the concern.
  3. Add concise context that helps explain the issue.
  4. Submit the report without reposting the content elsewhere.

If the report action is not offered, use Help & Feedback and identify the content, account, Circle, or Topic.

Choose the closest reason and describe what you observed rather than guessing about another person's intent. Identify what you encountered and where it appeared. Several reports for the same item do not add useful context unless something material has changed.

Request another review

If you believe a content or account action was applied incorrectly:

  1. Open Help & Feedback.
  2. Identify the affected content, Topic, or feature.
  3. Include the message shown and explain why the decision should be reviewed.
  4. Add only the evidence needed to understand the request.

Explain which part of the action or message you believe should be reconsidered. If the request concerns your content, make sure its title, description, Topic, media, and access settings are represented accurately in the appeal.

Wait for the review rather than republishing the affected content while the request is pending. The reviewer considers the item and the context you provide. Duplicate posts, repeated submissions, or contact with the person who reported the content are unnecessary.

Keep private information private

Do not publish or send passwords, authentication codes, full payment details, government identifiers, private contact details, or another person's private information. Remove unrelated names, messages, balances, and contact information from any attachment used to explain a safety concern.

If the concern itself contains private information, identify the content or account through the report action instead of copying that information into a new post. The Community Guidelines explain the standards applied across FOCUS.
