Community Guidelines

FOCUS is built around content, shared interests, and the people who contribute to them. These guidelines help keep posts, comments, profiles, Circles, and Topics safe, respectful, and worthwhile for everyone.

They apply whenever you publish, respond, participate in a community, or present yourself through an account.

Core Principles

1. Respect & Kindness

Treat people with respect and dignity, including when you disagree.

Not allowed:

  • Harassment, bullying, or intimidation
  • Hate speech or demeaning language
  • Discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic

2. Safety & Well-being

Do not post, promote, or encourage content that could cause harm, including:

  • Violence or threats of violence
  • Self-harm or suicide
  • Illegal activities or substances
  • Content that could endanger others

3. Quality Content

  • Stay on topic and contribute meaningfully
  • Avoid spam, repetitive posts, or disruptive off-topic content
  • Use clear titles and provide helpful context
  • Do not use misleading titles, covers, thumbnails, screenshots, or previews to imply rewards, features, or outcomes the post does not provide. For example, FOCUS reward or Treasure Chest imagery must not suggest that opening a post guarantees a benefit.
  • Keep content appropriate and respectful

4. Promotional Content

Unsolicited advertising, undisclosed endorsements, and aggressive marketing are not allowed.

If you reference a product or service, make the context useful and transparent:

  • Include your personal evaluation, review, or experience with the product/service
  • Share specific use cases or practical insights that benefit other users
  • Provide honest pros and cons to help others make informed decisions
  • Focus on how it solves a real problem or adds value in context

FOCUS may limit promotional content to designated formats and publishing features to protect community safety and the reading experience.

Links and Contact Information For user safety, links and contact information may only be added through official publishing features. Do not share links or contact details directly in posts, comments, or other unsupported fields.

Special Restriction Do not share FOCUS invitation codes or invitation links anywhere within the app.

5. Intellectual Property

Respect creators’ rights:

  • Share only content you created or have explicit permission to use
  • Do not post copyrighted material, trademarks, or proprietary content without authorization
  • Give proper credit when sharing others’ work (with permission)

Enforcement & Consequences

When content violates these guidelines, FOCUS may take actions such as:

  • Reviewing, limiting visibility, hiding, or removing content
  • Issuing warnings or temporary restrictions
  • Taking permanent account actions for severe or repeated violations

The response depends on the severity, context, and frequency of the violation.

Appeal Process If you believe an action was applied in error, contact support and identify the affected content or account decision.

Building a Great Community

Strong communities grow through everyday choices:

  • Practice empathy and assume good faith
  • Engage constructively with specific, helpful feedback
  • Report guideline violations to help keep the community safe
  • Welcome newcomers and help them learn community norms
  • Respect diverse perspectives and discuss disagreements calmly
  • Lead by example with the behavior you want to see
